HOW TO DRIVE TO THAILAND
- Entry Procedure -
STEP 1 : DROP OFF PASSENGER
Passengers must be dropped off before reaching the vehicle checkpoint to have their passports stamped. Afterward, they will meet the driver at the customs declaration counter.
STEP 2 : CONTINUE TO VEHICLE CHECKPOINT
The driver must proceed to the vehicle checkpoint. There, the driver should exit the vehicle, submit the passport along with two sets of the TM 2 and TM 3 forms. The officer at the checkpoint will stamp the passport and return it, along with one set of the TM 2 and TM 3 forms.
NOTE : Please ensure that the returned TM 2 and TM 3 forms are stamped and keep them in a safe place to prevent loss or misplacement.
STEP 3 : DECLARE VEHICLE AT CUSTOM DECLARATION COUNTER
The driver will then proceed to the customs declaration counter to declare the vehicle. The driver should park the car and walk to the counter with the passport and vehicle grant in hand. Both the passport and vehicle grant should be handed over to the officer at the counter, who will process the declaration for you.
Please ensure that the vehicle owner is the one making the declaration. If the driver is not the owner but the owner is present, please ask the owner to complete the declaration. If the owner is not present or not accompanying the trip, please ensure that the necessary documents are prepared for the following scenarios:
Family / Borrowed Car:
Please prepare an authorization letter verified by a Commissioner of Oaths, along with a copy of the vehicle owner’s identification card.Company Car:
Please prepare an authorization letter verified by a Commissioner of Oaths, along with a copy of Company registration details such as SSM, Form 24 , Form 49 and a copy of company’s owner identification card.
- EXIT Procedure -
STEP 1 : DROP OFF PASSENGER ( 2 )
Similar to the entry procedure, passengers must be dropped off before reaching the vehicle checkpoint to have their passports stamped. Afterward, they will meet the driver at the opposite end of the office.
STEP 2 : CONTINUE TO VEHICLE CHECKPOINT ( 2 )
Again, similar to the entry procedure, the driver must proceed to the vehicle checkpoint. There, the driver should exit the vehicle and submit the passport along with one set of stamped/verified TM 2 and TM 3 forms, which were handed over by the officer during the entry process. The officer at the checkpoint will stamp the passport and return it.
STEP 3 : RETURN THE DECLARATION FORM
Before proceeding to return the declaration form, the driver may pick up the passenger. Upon reaching Counter 8, return the declaration form to the officer at the counter. Afterward, you will be cleared to exit the Thailand border.
NOTE : While you may hold the declaration form for up to 30 days to reuse it for your next entry, it is strongly advised to return the form upon each exit to avoid any charges or penalties for failing to submit the form on time. You will be charged 1,000 baht for each day of over the due date, up to 10 days which is 10,000 baht.
